Dean's Message - March 2019

Dear Arts and Sciences Alumni,

Bridget M. Keegan, PhDWith the piles of snow finally melting in Omaha, it’s hard to believe that students are on spring break, with many of them devoting their week to serving others at sites across the country through Service and Justice Trips sponsored by the Schlegel Center for Service and Justice.

Later this spring, I’ll host a special celebration for the students who’ve earned a place on the Dean’s Service Honor Roll. Each year, our students complete tens of thousands of hours of service. It’s inspiring to see how they make time to be women and men for and with others.

The unusually snowy weather we’ve had makes my memories of winter break even fonder. I had the honor to kick off the New Year with 300 of our amazing alumni, current students, prospective students and parents at a beautiful reception in Honolulu.  Basking in the warm spirit of aloha, I felt tremendous pride in the generations of Creighton families in Hawaii who have made a profound impact on their community, living out our mission in all that they do.

As I write this message, I’m preparing to travel to New York City for the men’s Big East basketball tournament. While I look forward to cheering on our terrific student athletes, I’m also thrilled that the Creighton University Chamber Choir is performing at the Lincoln Center. Thanks in part to the generous support they received last year during Giving Day, the Chamber Choir is setting out on their first ever national tour, visiting Bloomington, Indiana, New York City and Washington, D.C. We’re excited for this year’s Giving Day on April 10. As the Chamber Choir tour demonstrates, your donations help make great things possible for our students.

I hope you enjoy the new format of our alumni newsletter and our updates on the latest accomplishments of our faculty, students and your fellow alumni.  Go Bluejays!
